David’s Bridal has officially acquired online wedding site Rustic Wedding Chic.
Under the terms of the acquisition, Maggie Lord, founder of Rustic Wedding Chic, will join the David’s Bridal team as head of strategic partnerships and will report to Kelly Cook, David Bridal’s chief marketing and IT officer.
“For the past 12 years, Maggie has been able to cultivate and forge strong and meaningful partnerships in the wedding market. She has done a phenomenal job at connecting with the newly engaged and establishing Rustic Wedding Chic as a go-to resource for ideas, inspiration, community and more,” said Kelly Cook, David’s Bridal Chief Marketing and IT Officer.
Over the years, Rustic Wedding Chic has built its brand value around serving as a source of inspiration for brides, offering ideas ranging from wedding cakes and posh donut-towers to personalized neon signs and DIY napkin ideas. Under the new David’s Bridal leadership, the website will continue to act by building content focusing on wedding photography, wedding planning articles, DIY projects, and any other nuptial resources that a bride may find helpful.
“Rustic Wedding Chic has experienced tremendous growth since our launch in 2008 and working with the David’s Bridal family opens up new opportunities beyond what I could have ever hoped for,” Lord said. “I am thrilled to join the team and drive strategic partnerships across the entire David’s Bridal ecosystem, forge new partnerships to help serve and excite our customer, and create a 360-degree wedding planning experience.”
Since the start of this year, David’ Bridal has launched a full suite of digital planning tools such as a wedding checklist, a personalized and customizable wedding website, and “Vision Board,” which helps brides bring their big day vision to life. The wedding and special occasions retailer’s acquisition of Rustic Wedding Chic is a strategic move that can help the company become a source for wedding inspiration ideas.
The company has also made several other moves that are directed at meeting the evolving shopping and payment preferences. In August, David’s Bridal teamed up with buy now, pay later (BNPL) provider Affirm to alleviate the financial stresses that come with planning the wedding day. Earlier in June, David’s Bridal partnered with Popwallet, a mobile wallet customer experience platform to offer coupons, offers and rebates.
