Healthcare provider, Sesame, has launched a new eCommerce offering called SesameRx to make healthcare more affordable and accessible to American consumers.
The online pharmacy provides nearly 200 FDA-approved generic $5 medications to both consumers with and without insurance for a broad range of common medical conditions such as allergies, depression, diabetes, high blood pressure, ADHD and insomnia. In addition, SesameRx offers patients telehealth services, medical specialties and in-person consults﹣all starting at $25 per visit.
The offering is being powered by Truepill, a digital health platform, to deliver medications and extend other healthcare services.
“Sesame is changing the health care buying experience by making it ‘radically normal,'” said David Goldhill, Sesame’s co-founder and CEO and the author of The Real Costs of American Health Care in a company statement.
“SesameRx extends that mission to the pharmacy. Shopping for health care, including prescription drugs, should be as easy as booking travel online. Convenience and choice with understandable, transparent prices.”
Consumers looking to take advantage of the service need to qualify first by scheduling an appointment with a doctor, specialist, or health care provider of their choice through the online Sesame superstore and be issued a prescription for their condition during the consultation.
SesameRx then ships prescribed medications in discreet packaging directly to the patient’s door. Eligible medications can also be refilled at the same price of $5. According to SesameRx, health insurance is never required to utilize its service.
