Chobani Is Teaming Up With UNSTUCK To Help Refugees Find Jobs — One Yogurt Cup At A Time

Chobani Launches Zero Sugar With Only Natural Ingredients And Teams Up With UNSTUCK To Help Refugees Find Jobs

Chobani is partnering with UNSTUCK, an organization that helps refugees find jobs, to launch a new flavor called Greek Yogurt Mango & Cream.

Through the collaboration, Chobani and UNSTUCK aim to create job opportunities for refugees by sourcing mango from suppliers committed to employing Venezuelan refugees.

“Our goal is to create a coalition of businesses – starting with food and beverage companies like Chobani, our pilot partner – that will make and sell UNSTUCK co-branded products. We want to bring more brands on board to help us make an even greater impact. The more UNSTUCK products we sell, the more ingredients brands source, the more job opportunities for refugees we help create,” said Nick O’Flaherty, Director of UNSTUCK.

The effort comes at a time when 5.6 million Venezuelans have been forced to escape the country due to violence, political repression and economic collapse. The country today has one of the largest refugee crises in the world at its hands.

Chobani & UNSTUCK Greek Yogurt Mango & Cream will be sold nationally, retailing at $4.29.

The consumer packed goods (CPG) company also announced the launch of a lactose-free and sugar-free product called Chobani Zero Sugar. The new offering also is made with only natural ingredients.

“Chobani® Zero Sugar* is a revolutionary innovation,” said Peter McGuinness, President and COO of Chobani.

The company notes that to create Chobani Zero Sugar, milk is filtered to reduce naturally occurring sugar. From there, the company utilizes natural fermentation methods to allow yogurt cultures to consume the remaining sugar. Chobani then adds natural, non-GMO sweeteners with pleasant tastes like monk fruit and allulose.

Chobani Zero Sugar is the first nationally distributed product in the U.S. yogurt aisle that is both sugar and lactose-free, has only natural ingredients and contains only 60 calories.

“Our team developed a brand new product that is as delicious as it is healthy. You won’t find another product on shelves nationwide in the U.S. dairy aisle with 11 grams of protein and only natural ingredients, but no sugar or artificial sweeteners.”

The company also noted that Chobani Zero Sugar contains six live and active cultures including probiotics.

The launch of the partnership with UNSTUCK and the company’s new product launch comes on the heels of a strong annual performance. In the last 52 weeks, the U.S. yogurt category has experienced sales increase by 2.2 percent. For Chobani, this increase in demand has contributed to an 8.7 percent growth in the Nielsen US Food channels.

In addition to Chobani Zero Sugar and the Unstuck collaboration, Chobani is also adding new offerings to its existing product portfolio, including:

  • Chobani Flip Limited Batch Chewy Churro
  • Chobani Oat Oat Nog
  • Chobani Oat Coffee Creamer Limited Batch Peppermint Mocha
