Snapchat has acquired Berlin-based Fit Analytics in an effort to launch its own shopping platform. The acquisition signals Snapchat’s ambitions to establish its footing in the fashion and eCommerce industry.
Fit Analytics offers APIs that enable merchants to help shoppers find their appropriate size for apparel and footwear products. The company has experience working with players such as ASOS, Calvin Klein and Patagonia.
According to Business of Fashion, the startup’s technology team is expected to report to Snapchat’s Vice President of Engineering, Nima Khajehnouri.
”By leveraging Snap’s scale and capabilities, we will not only continue to service our existing clients, but also deepen our relationships and offerings with our brand partners and retailers,” said Fit Analytics’ chief executive and co-founder Sebastian Schulze.
