Phoebe Philo is making a return to the fashion world with the launch of her own eponymous label.
Philo’s decision to launch her own brand comes after a three-year hiatus from the industry. She served as the creative director at Celine up until 2017. In her nine-year-long tenure, she is credited with rebooting the brand for parent company LVMH.
Now, Philo’s namesake brand is being backed by LVMH, which will have a minority stake in the company. However, Philo will maintain full creative control over her brand.
“Being in my studio and making once again has been both exciting and incredibly fulfilling. I am very much looking forward to being back in touch with my audience and people everywhere,” Philo said in an announcement about her return.
“To be independent, to govern and experiment on my own terms is hugely significant to me.”
Philo’s brand is set to launch in January 2022.
