Guess Recalls Tote Bags After Being Accused Of Copying Telfar

Fast fashion brand Guess is pulling its G-logo tote bags from shelves after it was called out on social media for imitating Telfar Global’s famed shopping bags.

Signal Brands, [the handbag licensee of Guess, Inc.], does not wish to create any impediments to Telfar Global’s success and, as such, has independently decided to stop selling the G-logo totes,” the brand said in a statement.

Guess is one of the latest brands that have recently been accused of imitating the work of independent designers such as Telfar. Social media posts showcasing a side-by-side comparison of products such as apparel and handbags by users have gone viral, which has in many cases led to product recalls, Business of Fashion reported.
