Karl Lagerfeld’s Bodyguard To Release A Book About The Iconic Designer

Famed German designer Karl Lagerfeld’s longtime bodyguard and personal assistant Sébastien Jondeau has announced the release date of his book “Ça va, cher Karl?” (How are you, dear Karl?) to his 44,300 followers on Instagram. The book which has been written in English is set to launch on January 27 and is expected to retail at €19.90.
Virginie Mouzat, a French fashion journalist who is best known for her work at Vanity Fair France, assisted Jondeau in writing the 220-page book and helped make it a reality. Mouzat called the piece “a story of fight, love, admiration and resilience.”
Jondeau began working with the fashion designer when he was 15 years old and went onto model for Chanel fashion shows and pose for Karl Lagerfeld men’s wear campaigns.
Now, a professional kickboxer who trains daily, Jondeau continues to work as an ambassador for the Lagerfeld brand and is a contributor at Fendi, where Lagerfeld designed ready-to-wear and furs for more than half a century.
In his book, Jondeau details a series of non-chronological recollections over the course of three decades, which address some painful moments; one of them being when Jondeau learned about Lagerfeld’s health troubles. Lagerfeld’s health issues emerged in June of 2015 and were known by a select few.
