Polish direct-to-consumer (DTC) furniture startup Tylko raised $26 million in a Series C investment round.

The company plans to use the funding to develop sustainable and long-lasting materials, streamline its delivery services, improve on its logistics capabilities and invest in augmented reality-powered tools.

“Right now, we need to invest in the best people in the industry to work with us and achieve Tylko’s mission — to help us build the value for customers and shape the future of the furniture industry,” said Tylko co-founder and co-CEO Mikołaj Molenda.

The investment round was led by angel investors Brian Walker, the former CEO of furniture giant Herman Miller and Mark Williamson, the COO of online classes platform MasterClass. As part of the investment round,  Rami Kalish from Pitango Ventures, Mikko Kuitunen from Evli Growth Partners and Brian Walker will join the company’s supervisory board.

“Tylko’s strong impact-driven vision and made-to-order business model drives the market’s transition towards more sustainable solutions. By optimizing material use, production efficiency and offering customers unique, long-lasting design we believe Tylko is positioned at the forefront of such a transition,” Kuitunen said.

The funding follows a year of significant growth for the startup. The company, which follows a made-to-order model, saw its sales increase by 132 percent in 2020 compared to previous years, with more consumers spending money on sprucing up their homes as they adjusted to a work-from-home lifestyle.
