Quick-service-restaurant (QSR) Carl’s Jr. has teamed up with plant-based meat substitute producer Beyond Meat to offer up an entirely plant-based menu, in addition to giving away a complimentary Beyond Meat item to customers.
“As leaders in plant-based innovation, we are thrilled to partner with Carl’s Jr. to bring this unique pop-up experience to life,” said Beth Moskowitz, chief creative officer, Beyond Meat.
The latest menu takeover will be available at a local Carl’s Jr. restaurant in Los Angeles and is being launched just in time for Earth Day, April 22, 2021. “This Earth Day initiative increases accessibility to a variety of delicious, nutritious and sustainable offerings that Carl’s Jr. fans will love,” said Moskowitz.
The Carl’s Jr. and Beyond Meat relationship originally sparked in December 2018, making the fast-food restaurant the first national QSR to offer a plant-based burger patty known as the Beyond Famous Star. The plant-based burger became Carl’s Jr.’s most successful burger launch in the year 2019. Since then, Carl’s Jr. has sold almost 12 million Beyond Meat burgers.
“We are excited to give our fans a fun, delicious way to celebrate Earth Day this year with a full plant-based meat experience at Carl’s Jr.,” said Patty Trevino, senior vice president of brand marketing at CKE Restaurants. “With nearly one-third of consumers identifying as flexitarian, we continue to innovate on new ways for our guests to enjoy our iconic charbroiled burgers with our Beyond Meat partnership.”
The offering will become available on April 22, 2021 at Carl’s Jr. located at 424 W. Los Feliz Rd., Glendale, CA 91204 from 6 a.m. until 9 p.m., while supplies last.
Customers who cannot attend the event can buy any Beyond Burger for $5 through an email offer that can be redeemed at participating Carl’s Jr. locations throughout the U.S.
