Arts and crafts retailer Michaels is expanding on its existing same-day delivery service with a new partnership with Instacart.
The two companies are piloting same-day delivery for online orders from nearly 100 stores across Chicago, Dallas and Washington D.C. Following the pilot, the retailer is expected to expand same-delivery to all of its U.S. stores in the coming months.
“Michaels is here for the makers and we are thrilled to be the first arts and crafts retailer to be on the Instacart marketplace,” said Heather Bennett, Michaels executive VP of innovation. “As the largest one-stop-shop for all things arts and crafts in North America, our partnership with Instacart provides a quick and convenient way for our customers to purchase ordinary craft supplies so they can create extraordinary projects.”
The company’s partnership with Instacart follows that of several other retailers, including Walgreens, Dick’s Sporting Goods and Best Buy, who have looked to improve their digital offerings over the course of the pandemic.
Earlier last month, the company announced that it was going private in a $3.3 billion deal.
Michaels currently operates more than 1,272 stores in 49 U.S. states and Canada.
