Walgreens Offers Same-Day Delivery Via Instacart

As consumers continue to rely on delivery services for a contactless and convenient shopping experience in 2021, Walgreens is teaming up with Instacart to expand its same-day delivery service to nearly 8,000 stores nationwide.

“Convenience is at the core of what we do and Walgreens is thrilled to be partnering with Instacart to bring customers a simple and trusted same-day delivery option for the products they need right to their door,” said Stefanie Kruse, Vice President, Digital Commerce and Omnichannel at Walgreens.

Stores in Illinois have already started offering the service, while stores in other states will start over the next coming weeks.

Through the service, Walgreens customers will be able to order over-the-counter medications, health and wellness products, groceries, personal care and beauty items for delivery in as little as an hour.

The move comes at a time when Instacart is looking to expand beyond delivering groceries. Instacart is also reportedly preparing for its initial public offering.

We’re proud to expand on that commitment and welcome Walgreens to the Instacart marketplace, offering customers nationwide an unmatched online assortment of Walgreens items available for same-day delivery,” said Chris Rogers, Vice President of Retail at Instacart.

We’re excited to provide a seamless, safe and reliable experience to Walgreens customers across the country, giving them a new way to have the over-the-counter medications and health products they depend on delivered from the store to their door in as fast as an hour. ”

The move aligns with Walgreens’ recent efforts to expand its digital footprint, which has included investments in a recent revamp of its existing Balanced Rewards loyalty program dubbed myWalgreens, a new app, media network formally known as Walgreens Advertising Group (WAG) and online fulfillment.

“This collaboration builds upon several other recent steps in our digital transformation to deliver health expertise to customers in new channels, which is timely given shifts in customer needs during the pandemic,” said Kruse.

To order Walgreens items for delivery, customers can visit or select the Walgreens storefront in the Instacart mobile app.
