GNC has entered into an exclusive agreement with retail giant Walmart to sell an assortment of its products on the Walmart website and physical stores.
To kick off the partnership, GNC will be offering select everyday vitamins in various formats across more than 4,000 Walmart stores and on Walmart.com. The company plans to later expand its offerings to include weight management products as well as additional sports nutrition.
“Millions know and trust our brand, and with this collaboration we can deliver the GNC experience to a whole new group of consumers,” said GNC CEO Josh Burris in a statement. “With retailers like Walmart in our court, I’m confident our expanding wholesale distribution will continue making GNC the most trusted and recognized personal health and wellness brand in the marketplace.”
Through its partnership with Walmart, GNC is not only aiming to reach new customers but is also aiming to turn them into long-term loyal customers.
“We’ll be making an impact on new consumers every day in Walmart stores, and when they are ready to take their wellness journeys to the next level, we will welcome them in our stores for the full GNC and coach experience,” Burr added. “When you’re creating long-term consumers and driving growth at this level, that’s where the magic happens.”
Prior to partnering with Walmart, GNC has had a 20 year-long partnership with Rite Aid, which was extended through the end of this year. It remains unclear how the company’s new partnership with Walmart will impact its existing relationship with Rite Aid.
