Social media giant Facebook is launching shoppable lives videos for beauty and fashion brands starting today. The shoppable Friday event will showcase videos featuring products and demos on brands’ Facebook pages.

The livestream events, which will last through July 16, will enable consumers to find new products, ask questions related to size and fit and receive tips in real-time. Shoppers will be able to make purchases by simply tapping the products that are being featured and making payments without leaving the Facebook platform, the company said.

Some of the brands participating in the event include Abercrombie & Fitch, Clinique, Bobbi Brown and Sephora.

“Live Shopping offers a chance to build relationships with customers, provide new entertaining content, answer questions and streamline the purchase process through convenient checkout with Shops,” the company noted.

The company’s move to launch live Summer shopping events comes at a time when brands and retailers are looking to engage customers across a variety of digital channels even as their customers return to physical stores. Live stream shopping platform, QVC, for example, expanded its presence to YouTube to engage new customers. Meanwhile, LG TV launched a live shopping app last October, enabling shoppers to shop with platforms such as QVC and HSN more easily.

More recently, livestream shopping startups Whatnot and Talkshoplive made news when they raised $20 million and $3 million in funding, respectively, Retail Dive reported.

The livestream shopping market is expected to be valued at $6 billion this year and will grow to $25 billion by 2023, according to Coresight research.
