Pinterest announced the launch of several new eCommerce features today as part of its effort to streamline the shopping experiences on its platform.
One of the key features the social media platform announced is the Shopping List, which allows users to save product pins in one place and receive notifications for product drops. The company has also rolled out a “Goods by Pinterest” feature that enables shoppers to get exclusive access to products by various DTC brands such as Brooklinen, Olive & June and Outdoor Voices.
The company plans to partner with brands and retailers in several European countries, including Australia, Canada, France, Germany and the United Kingdom to extend the offerings to end-users. Partnering merchants will have access to the app’s shop tab feature and will become part of the company’s Verified Merchant Program, which will give them a blue checkmark on their Pinterest profiles, signifying the authenticity of their brands, Retail Dive reported.
“We want to help users to find products just right for them and feel confident that they’ve made a solid choice from reputable merchants with a seamless shopping experience,” said Dan Lurie, global head of shopping products at Pinterest. “We’re excited that Pinterest users in more countries will now be able to go from inspiration to purchase anywhere on Pinterest, bringing us one step closer to our goal of making every Pin easy to shop.”
The launch of these new features is part of its continued effort to boost social commerce on its platform. Last year, the company reportedly debuted its shop tab feature as well as its merchant verification program. More recently, the company launched a new beauty AR try-on experience as well Idea Pins for creators.
