Afterpay and Stripe are teaming up to enable sellers to extend interest-free, flexible payment options to their customers.
The partnership will enable Stripe merchants to begin offering their customers Afterpay’s buy now, pay later service without having to go through an application, onboarding or underwriting process.
“We’ve seen strong demand from users around the world for flexible payment options, and this partnership gives businesses on Stripe an effective tool for capturing more sales and reaching new customers,” said Noah Pepper, Stripe’s business lead for APAC.
The two companies are also partnering up to extend the payment offering to eCommerce platforms in an effort to help them better appeal to younger customers, improve order value and enjoy higher conversion rates. Website building platform Squarespace will be the first to offer Afterpay’s flexible payment option to its customers, allowing online merchants to build an integrated checkout experience that matches up to the look and feel of their brand.
“Millennial and Gen Z consumers are demonstrating a clear preference for flexible payment options that allow them to budget and spend responsibly,” said Afterpay’s SVP of Global Sales Strategy and Operations Ben Pressley.
“By partnering with Stripe and Squarespace, we’re equipping retailers with the tools to meet this consumer demand – offering the younger generation a way to use their own money and pay over time, always free of interest.”
Stripe and Squarespace merchants in the U.S., U.K., Australia and New Zealand can now begin integrating Afterpay. The option is expected to be made available to merchants in Canada soon.
