The wearable product features Gucci’s logo and an 18-karat yellow gold braided torchon that runs along the outside of the band. The ring itself, however, is made from black PVD-coated titanium and retails for $950.
“Embarking on a journey of self-discovery, the latest collaboration pays subtle tribute to Gucci’s origins in the world of sports and leisure. The slimline ring echoes this connection with a precious interpretation of Guccio Gucci’s monogram, paired with a braided trim in 18kt gold. A nod to the founder, the piece becomes an homage to the ever-evolving story of the brand,” Gucci noted on the company site.
Oura smart rings can monitor heart rate, temperature, and sleep activity. The measurements are taken from the arteries in the finger, which according to Oura, give better and more accurate results than sensors found on the wrist. The company also offers “science-backed content on how to optimize each day.” All data collected can be viewed on the Oura app, which is available on both iOS and Android.
Like Apple’s $1,300 Hermès Watch, Oura has looked to bring together technology and sports wearables to deliver accurate health data while delivering a fashionable look at the same time. The ring has seemingly been designed to cater to those with expensive tastes.
Aside from its Gucci labeling, a key perk of owning the ring is access to a lifetime subscription to Oura’s services. The company caused waves a while back when it announced that it would be paywalling some insights behind a premium membership.
Oura got started via Kickstarter back in 2016 and is best known for its compact smart rings. Since then, Oura has launched two versions of its ring, with the most recent one being its third-generation edition. Oura launched its version 3 at the end of 2021, and while the Gucci collaboration is technically the brand’s fourth product, the technology of the ring is based on its third generation ring.
The Oura x Gucci ring can be purchased online at Gucci for $950 or in-store.
