U.S. women’s cycling brand Jelenew has appointed Chanel’s former designer Di Liu as its new creative head.

Jelenew noted that Liu’s unique fashion perspective and sense of innovation make him an ideal candidate for managing the company’s creative direction.

Liu began his career in 2016 working at Chanel as part of the brand’s core design team, where he was recognized for his achievements in 3D tailoring, fashion trend analysis, and fabric reconstruction. Later in 2019, he began working for French fashion and culture magazine “ART ET MODE” as the editor-in-chief.

Many of Liu’s designs, which are still in testing stages, have been praised by professional athletes and cycling enthusiasts.

“It’s my honor to join Jelenew on this new journey with a passionate team,” Liu said in a statement.

“At the beginning of the company’s establishment, it focused on solving a series of clothing problems encountered by women in cycling. I am proud to be part of such a brand with a strong sense of social responsibility.”

“I look forward to contributing my creativity and experience and stepping into a new chapter with Jelenew,” he said.

Liu graduated from Esmod and IPLME in Paris, where he studied advanced garment customization and luxury management.
