United Colors of Benetton has appointed Andrew Incontri as its new creative director for its men’s, women’s, and children’s collections.
Incontri is an architecture graduate who launched his namesake brand in 2009. He later went on to work as the creative director for Italian luxury brand Tod’s between 2014 and 2019.
“I take great pride in accepting this appointment because it allows me to participate in a project of values that involves not only clothing, but a wide range of cultural issues concerning the variable aspects of modern humanism,” he said.
The first collection produced under Incontri’s creative direction will be presented at the Milan Fashion Week in September 2022. Incontri will also be offering creative direction on an ad campaign expected to be launched in August this year, teasing highlights from the Italian brand’s FW22/23 collections.
Massimo Renon, who serves as the chief executive officer of Benetton Group noted that Incontri’s appointment “will bring new energy to a success story, one of a company and brand that wish to make a generational change and guide Italian industry in these years in which a redefinition of the social role of fashion and clothing appears urgent.”
