Less than two days after adidas filed a lawsuit against Nike for infringing on its copyrights, Ye (previously known as Kanye West) called out adidas for producing Yeezy-look-alike sandals.

The sandals in question are the $55 Adilette 22 slides, which Ye claims are similar to the Yeezy Slides.

Although the Adilette 22 slides feature a geometric-wavy texture, their overall shape slightly resembles Ye’s slides, which come with a thick midsole and one-piece design.

“A fake YEEZY made by adidas themselves,” said Ye in a June 13, 2022, Instagram post.

“I’m not standing for this blatant copying no more,” Ye added. “This is for everyone who wants to express themselves but feel they can’t cause they’ll loose [sic] their contract or be called crazy… These shoes represent the disrespect that people in power have to the talent.”

Ye has had a business relationship with the German sportswear giant since 2013. The two brands have presented eight YEEZY Season collections and collaborated on several staples in the adidas YEEZY line, such as the YEEZY FOAM RNNR and YEEZY BOOST 350 V2.

In his now-deleted Instagram rant, Ye called on adidas’ Chief Executive Officer Kasper Rørsted to have a chat with him regarding the similarities between the sandal slides.

“Kasper come talk to me,” Ye added.
