Swarovski has officially transitioned from a family-managed company to a family-owned company with the appointment of Alexis Nasard, its first external chief executive officer.

Nasard joins the jeweler from McKinsey & Co., where he recently served as a senior business advisor. Before joining McKinsey, Nasard briefly served as the chief executive officer at market research firm Kantar in 2021 and as a member of the board of advisors for Salvatore Ferragamo between January 2020 and July 2021. Prior to that, Nasard spent 17 years at Procter & Gamble. Overall, Nasard brings more than 30 years of experience in consumer goods and retail.

“With the appointment of Swarovski’s first external CEO, we are taking an important further step in establishing a sustainable governance model,” said Luisa Delgado, chair of the board of directors, in a statement.

Swarovski officially launched its search for an external chief executive officer when family member Robert Buchbauer stepped down from the role back in late 2021. In the interim, Chief Commercial Officer Michele Molon led the company.

Nasard’s appointment marks the first time the company has looked outside the Swarovski family for leadership in its 127-year history.
In his new role, Nasard will be responsible for scaling the company’s business and driving profitable growth.

His appointment is effective July 4, 2022.
