Zillow has eliminated 300 jobs from its advisory, sales, back-end support, and other teams as the company deals with a slowdown in the housing market.

The real estate company plans to keep its focus on filling technology-related positions for now. Its decision follows other companies such as Compass and Redfin that have also looked to cut jobs this year.

“As part of our normal business process, we continuously evaluate and responsibly manage our resources as we create digital solutions to make it easier for people to move,” said a Zillow spokesperson in a statement.

“This week, we have made the difficult — but necessary — decision to eliminate a small number of roles and will shift those resources to key growth areas around our housing super-app. We’re still hiring in key technology-related roles across the company.”

According to its last quarterly report filed with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission in August 2022, Zillow reported having 5,791 full-time employees in its workforce. Based on that, roughly 5% of employees were impacted by the layoff.

TechCrunch was the first to break the news.
