Buy now, pay later (BNPL) platform Afterpay and beauty retail giant Sephora are expanding their partnership to enable Canadian customers to pay for their purchases in installments.

Sephora customers in Canada can now select Afterpay at checkout online at Sephora.ca and via the Afterpay app and Sephora app to pay for more than 340 curated brands, including Tatcha, Olaplex, Briogeo, Rare Beauty, Maison Margiela, and Sephora’s namesake brand.

“We are thrilled to expand our partnership with Afterpay into Canada, which supports our ongoing commitment to offer our clients the flexibility and convenience to shop when and how they want,” said Laura Unger, vice president and general manager of eCommerce, Sephora Canada. “It is paramount for us to continue providing our existing clients and first-time Sephora Canada shoppers with innovative payment options and flexible solutions, ensuring the best in beauty is accessible to everyone.”

The move to extend the offering to Sephora customers in Canada follows the growing demand for beauty products, which began at the start of the pandemic and has since kept its momentum. According to NPD data, Gen X and millennials contributed to the $9 billion spent in the first half of 2022 on beauty products. These two cohorts have increasingly gravitated towards BNPL solutions.
