Big news for donut lovers in the state of Kentucky!
Beginning October 26, 2022, McDonald’s customers in the Louisville area will be able to purchase Krispy Kreme donuts at nine specified locations.
McDonald’s customers who are nearby any of the testing areas will be able to order the original glazed, chocolate iced with sprinkles and raspberry-filled donuts individually or in packs of six. The donuts will initially be available for in-person ordering and will not be available for delivery.
According to McDonald’s, Krispy Kreme will deliver fresh donuts to each of its participating locations daily thanks to its “hub and spoke” model that allows it to make and distribute its treats efficiently. The model leverages Krispy Kreme production hubs that are based out of either stores or donut factories, where donuts are made on a daily basis and then sent off to grocery stores and gas stations.
The offering is a part of a test to entice and encourage new and recurring visits from customers in the area. It will also allow the quick-service restaurant (QSR) to learn more about how to effectively team up with Krispy Kreme and how the move will affect its operations.
