American footwear brand Sperry has launched a new SeaCycled collection that has been made using recycled and eco-friendly materials — part of the brand’s effort to offer more sustainable products.

The collection features canvas uppers made with 100% recycled polyester and uses the equivalent of 12 recycled plastic bottles just for one pair of shoes.

“Sperry’s customers want sustainable products but are willing to make zero compromises. They need to look good, be made well, and be offered at the same price,” said Sean McDowell, senior vice president of global product at Sperry.

“With these qualifications in mind, we have proudly designed several undyed styles that celebrate the materials while using less water and energy and producing less waste.”

In addition to launching its SeaCycled collection, Sperry has also partnered with PangeaSeed Foundation, an international nonprofit organization that utilizes the universal power of art to further the conservation surrounding the health of oceans and help educate consumers.

Sperry has also renewed its partnership with Waterkeeper Alliance, a U.S.-based global movement that unites more than 300 community-based waterkeepers worldwide to preserve and protect everyone’s right to clean water and raise awareness by organizing clean-up events and educational opportunities.

By 2024, Sperry aims to expand its SeaCycled collection to include 50% of the shoe models it offers to shoppers.

The SeaCycled collection ranges from $59-$95 and is available online and in-store at select retailers.
