Discord is expanding its server subscription program with the goal of enabling even more creators to offer premium access and perks to their followers for a subscription fee.

“Starting today, we’re expanding the availability of Server Subscriptions, allowing creators on Discord to earn money directly within their server,” said Derek Lang, creator product lead at Discord.

Creators in the U.S. that want to take advantage of the subscription program must be 18 years or older, hold an account in good standing, have verified email and phone number, and have two-factor authentication enabled.

To qualify for Discord’s offering, creators must also have a minimum community size of 500 members and at least 50 active unique users on the server per week.

Creators can expect to be paid out 30 days after the end of the calendar month. Meaning creators will see their earnings for January 2023 by March 1, 2023. Additionally, they must make at least $100 to receive their first payout and earn at least $25 for each subsequent monthly payout.

Discord noted that creators are barred from monetizing certain types of content, the complete list of which can be found here.

For creators looking to get started, Discord has launched a creator portal that provides all the details on the new monetization offering.
