Italian luxury label Dolce & Gabbana is venturing into the hospitality realm with the planned launch of a high-end hotel in the Maldives.

The brand has teamed up with Dar Global, a Saudi-based property developer under Dar Al Arkan, to kick-start the project, which does not yet have a projected completion date.

“We are thrilled to bring the world-renowned made-in-Italy brand ambassador Dolce & Gabbana into the world of real estate and hospitality,” said Ziad El Chaar, chief executive of Dar Global.

Dar Global has spearheaded several other high-profile projects, such as Les Vagues by Elie Saab, a beachfront residential development in Qatar, Urban Oasis by Missoni Home in Dubai, and Upside Living Villas in Riyadh, featuring interiors by Versace.

Apart from the Maldives hotel, the fashion house has also disclosed plans for residential ventures in Miami, USA, and Marbella, Spain.

D&G’s interest in developing luxury properties follows the footsteps of other luxury labels such as Bulgari, Dior and Giorgio Armani, who have all made their mark by infusing their signature design and brand ethos into residential high-rises and hotels, offering guests an unparalleled lifestyle experience.

One example of this approach is the Armani Hotel in Burj Khalifa, which prominently features a subdued and dark color palette ranging from beige to charcoal, while all furnishings are from the brand’s homeware collection, Armani Casa.

Likewise, similar elements are expected to be integrated into the Dolce & Gabbana project in the Indian Ocean. In 2021, the brand unveiled the Dolce & Gabbana Home Collection, which offers living room accessories, tableware, and bathroom decor.
