The collaboration between H&M and Mugler was reportedly in talks before Manfred Thierry Mugler’s passing in January 2022.

The collection is available online and in select stores featuring Mugler’s gender-fluid philosophy that emphasizes adaptability and inclusivity.

The collection incorporates men’s and women’s clothing and accessories, all highlighting the Mugler style. It showcases a dynamic exhibition of Mugler’s contemporary universe and the inventive approaches implemented by Mugler’s creative director Casey Cadwallader to update the brand’s aesthetic, making it more contemporary and alluring to a younger demographic.

The primary goal of the collection is to unify the fashion brand’s past, present, and future by highlighting renowned Mugler styles and trademarks.

“We are proud to celebrate the legacy of Manfred Thierry Mugler with this collection. We were all honored to get to know Manfred, and it feels very special that he was involved at the initial stages together with Casey and the house of Mugler,” said Ann-Sofie Johansson, creative advisor at H&M.

"Casey has done such an incredible job at paying homage to history and to the archive while making the collection totally contemporary. Under him, Mugler has become one of the most innovative and exciting houses on today's fashion landscape."

The collection’s silhouette embodies the recognizable contemporary Mugler style, characterized by powerful broad shoulders, a focus on the waistline, and an appreciation of the body’s curves and contours, celebrating confidence.

In addition to the modern designs, Cadwallader has handpicked a series of exclusive archive remakes that reflect Mugler’s pivotal role in the catwalk drama of the 80s and 90s, chosen for their contemporary resonance.

Every item in the collection symbolizes a significant milestone in fashion history, allowing Mugler’s worldwide fanbase to own a part of the brand’s legacy.

“It is truly an honor to collaborate with H&M. The collection is a celebration of everything that defines Mugler as a house and each piece is authentic Mugler, from the bodysuits, which have become a signature of ours, to the sharp tailoring and worked denims. It is a showcase of our icons,” said Cadwallader.
