Taco Bell Canada turned to ChatGPT to write a review for its Mexican pizza, which it is reintroducing across its Canadian stores.

The move to consult the AI platform is part of the quick service restaurant’s (QSR) effort to drum up excitement for the once-popular food item, which was taken off the menu across its Canadian stores.

Starting February 6, 2023, fans can finally indulge in beef and veggie Mexican Pizza options for a limited time (or until supplies last) at participating Taco Bell Canada locations.

“We knew how disappointed fans were to learn Mexican Pizza was absent from Canadian menus, following the item’s iconic and much talked about return to the U.S. in 2022,” said Rohit Sharma, senior marketing manager, Taco Bell Canada.

"We heard our fans and are excited to bring Mexican Pizza back to Canada. But why take everyone's word for how great it is? ChatGPT is having a moment in the cultural zeitgeist, and the idea of using the tool to review our own cult menu item seemed like a fun opportunity."

According to Taco Bell, the Mexican pizza will be available a-la-carte or in a combo that includes fries and a 20oz drink. Customers can choose to order it with seasoned beef or refried beans between two crispy tortilla shells, topped with sauce, tomatoes and a three-cheese blend.

For eager fans, the Mexican Pizza will also be available at select locations as of February 3, 2023, exclusively through the Taco Bell Canada app and www.tacobell.ca.
