Meta’s Chief Business Officer, Marne Levine, is leaving the company after 13 years of working for the company.

Levine was appointed to the role in 2021 after serving in various executive positions for the social media giant, including the chief operating officer of Instagram.

In light of Levine’s departure, the company has appointed Nicola Mendelsohn as the head of the global business group and Justin Osofsky as the head of online sales, operations, and partnerships.

Mendelsohn will help manage Meta’s relationships with agencies and top marketers across all of its apps. Meanwhile, Osofsky will oversee sales and operations focused on promoting the growth of small- and medium-sized businesses on the company’s platform, according to Reuters.

The news comes days after Meta announced further reduce its workforce, part of its effort to slash costs by $5 billion to a range of $89 billion to $95 billion, with CEO Mark Zuckerberg reportedly calling 2023 “the year of efficiency.”

In November 2022, the company laid off 11,000 employees, accounting for 13% of its workforce. The layoffs impacted employees across the board but disproportionately affected those in recruiting.

“That means some teams will grow meaningfully, but most other teams will stay flat or shrink over the next year,” Zuckerberg said at the time. “In aggregate, we expect to end 2023 as either roughly the same size or even a slightly smaller organization than we are today.”
